ARE YOUR CHILDREN RECEIVING THE EDUCATION THEY ARE ENTITLED TO?

Here's what you can do!

¿ESTÁN SUS HIJOS RECIBIENDO LA EDUCACIÓN A LA QUE TIENEN DERECHO?

¡Esto es lo que puedes hacer!

The Paterson Public Schools (PPS) are experiencing staffing shortages in many schools as teachers and other staff leave and positions remain unfilled. Lower-income parents whose children attend a PPS school can contact Education Law Center (ELC) to request legal assistance if they learn that their child’s class lacks a certified teacher or that their child is not receiving IEP-required services. To seek legal assistance, call ELC’s intake line at 973-624-1815, ext. 300, and leave a voicemail in English or Spanish with your name, a call-back number, and a brief description of your problem. ELC’s intake coordinator will contact you to obtain additional information and have your case reviewed by an attorney. All legal services provided are free of charge to income-eligible parents.

The Paterson Education Association (PEA) is committed to providing the very best for Paterson’s students. We understand how vitally important it is to have quality educators and optimal learning conditions so these children can thrive.  Without either of those things, our schools and the overall educational experience can suffer.

While the District claims it wants the best for Paterson’s schools and students, their actions don’t seem to match their words.

The Paterson Education Association will continue to demand improved working conditions, enhanced student learning environments, fair and equitable treatment of its staff and a contract that finally will bring Paterson’s teacher and support professionals’ salaries in line with comparable districts.

Together, we can make it happen!
