The PPS Board will be presented with a worst-case scenario (by the Liberty Insurance Broker) regarding the Atlantic Health System versus Cigna debacle at next week’s Board of Ed meeting on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 90 Delaware 5:45 PM sharp.
According to my sources, the Board is set to weigh options that range from:
- Taking no action at all.
- Quickly transitioning to a self-insured AETNA medical plan.
- Transitioning to the State Health Benefits Plan (SEHBP).
As a result of the notification of this new information, the P.E.A. needs all members to come out in massive numbers! We ask that you bring your husbands, wives, and children to the meeting because the Board needs to look at all of us in the eye before taking an action.
Are you going to allow this District, the Business Administrator, the Insurance broker, or the Board of Education to make a decision that impacts your whole family without you having a say? Start sharing on social media, email, and via text to your colleagues. The time to act is now! We have less than one week to organize our worksites. We have done it before, and we will do it again!
Finally, we need to you speak at the meeting about how this self-insurance plan has affected you and your loved ones. The Board needs to know why it is so important for you to return back to the SEHBP!
All delegates, executive board members, and action team members will be receiving calls to have emergency 10-minute meetings with their worksites on Thursday or Friday of this week.
Last time we made an all call with advanced notice only 135 members came out. If you want this to happen, we need to show up in ENORMOUS numbers! This is what belonging to a Union is all about.
Sincerely,
John McEntee, Jr., President
