The Paterson Public School District is moving to utilize “Google Suite.” All employees are going to be (or have already been) provided an email address ending in ppsstaff.org. The Paterson Education Association (PEA) strongly advises all employees NOT TO log in to your ppsstaff.org account using your personal device: computer, smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.
Here is the reason why: The Paterson Public School District has the available technology to view all of your personal internet browsing habits on your personal device if you are logged in to ppsstaff.org. Simply put, whenever you are logged in to ppsstaff.org, any web pages that you view, e-mails you send, text/picture messages, etc., could possibly be viewed by the district. More than that, however, the district also possesses the technology to view the aforementioned even if you are not inside a city school or your worksite, but at your home using your own personal WIFI while logged in to ppsstaff.org.
Just as the PEA has previously cautioned members about using district computers, and WIFI for personal use, we again encourage all members to heed our advice listed above.
