At its October 20 meeting, the professional staff members of the P.E.A.'s Delegate Assembly elected two new members to the Paterson Professional Development board (PPDB). Richard Vincenti, a science teacher at John F. Kennedy High School was elected on the first ballot. He was joined on the Board by Layne Williams, an 8th grade language arts teacher at School # 20, who defeated Vashti Mosby, a 7th grade teacher at the Frank Napier School in a second, run-off, election. Notice of the two vacancies were distributed to all professinal staff members in September. Seven (7) requests for Nomination Applications were received by the P.E.A. Each was sent an application of nomination by return mail. However, only Mosby, Vincenti and Williams returned the completed applications, and, as a result, the other four staff members who had originally expressed an interest in serving were eliminated. Vincenti and Williams join Ivan Madjar and Dante Petretti, both of Kennedy High School, on the Board. They replace James pollizzotto (#24) and Karen Pabst (# 5). Neither Pollizzotto nor Pabst chose to stand for re-election. |
