Spirit
and Information
Since the collective bargaining agreement expired June

champing at the bit for the opportunity to express their
disgust with management's delaying tactics. Parent
Conference Nights on November 17 and 18.
Association
members across the District joined together to get out their
message: "We Want A New Contract ... NOW!" Informational
pickets lines were established from 4:30 - 5:00 at every
school.
From brand new staff to veterans, staff members joined
together to show their solidarity, and provide informational
literature to parents who arrived early. At approximately
5:00, the staff members left their lines and entered the
school buildings to sign in and meet with the parents of the
children in their classes.
"Ever since the Commissioner of Education rejected the
tentative agreement we had reached with former State
District Superintendent Edwin Duroy, our members have acted
in a professional manner," commented P.E.A. President Pete
Tirri. "We performed our job duties and hoped that the
management would realize that we deserved a quick
settlement. That has not happened, and our members wanted
the opportunity to begin to show that we will fight for a
fair contact for all of our members."
